Michael Crystal has worked for some of this country's leading law firms, including Stewart McKelvey Stirling Scales, Borden Ladner Gervais, Gowlings Lafleur Henderson and Pinkofsky Lockyer. As a criminal lawyer, he has been retained by both the United Kingdom and the Republic of South Africa. Currently, Mr. Crystal's practice includes criminal trial and appellate law at every level of court in Ontario. In addition to practicing law Mr. Crystal has taught evidence at the University of Ottawa Law School and published widely on criminal law and advocacy. Mr. Crystal's holistic approach has won him acclaim in the U.S. by David Wexler, the leading scholar in the field of therapeutic jurisprudence. Finally, Mr. Crystal has been involved in numerous charitable efforts and currently holds the position of Honourary Counsel to the United Nations Association in Canada.

Caroline Cyr has practiced exclusively in criminal defense law since her call to the bar in 2009. She obtained degrees in both civil and common law from the University of Ottawa. While studying in Law school, Ms. Cyr worked as a Research Assistant at the Supreme Court of Canada. Although her mother tongue is French, she practices in both official languages. Ms. Cyr is committed to social justice and particularly devoted to protect the rights of marginalized groups. She is legal counsel to the Ottawa Animal Defense League (OADL).

Heather Cross graduated Cum Laude from the University of Ottawa law school in 2005. From 2005-2006, she articled at Piazza Brooks Barristers and Solicitors, a small full-service firm in downtown Ottawa, where she worked on a diverse range of files, from corporate to civil litigation to real estate matters. From July 2006 to October 2009, she worked as a legal analyst for the Cornwall Public Inquiry, which examined and produced a report regarding the response of the justice system and other public institutions to allegations of sexual abuse of young people in Cornwall, Ontario. Heather joined the team at Crystal Cyr Criminal Law as a legal researcher in April 2010.

Leonard Max Q.C., a graduate of both McGill University and University of Toronto Law School, has been practicing since 1962, operating out of both the Ottawa Crystal Cyr Criminal Law office where he acts as counsel to the firm on civil and family matters arising from or related to the criminal representations by both Mr. Crystal and Ms. Cyr; and from his Merrickville, Ontario home office. His wide-ranging counsel practice throughout Eastern Ontario has sounded particularly in the fields of criminal, civil and family law at both trial and appellate levels. |
